Monday, May 27th
3:00 pm Students meet to prepare for the trip (location TBD). Alums join us for pizza. Pack donations
Tuesday, May 28th NOTE: TRAVEL PLANS ARE TENTATIVE
4:00 am – Depart Drew for Newark airport
7:14 am – Newark (EWR) United Airlines flight 1470 to Santo Domingo (SDQ)
11:08 am – arrive Santo Domingo
12:30 pm – private bus from the airport to Bonao (arrive 1:30 pm)
1:30 pm – arrive at hotel, eat lunch, settle in.
3:30 pm – visit el Hogar de niñas María Madre de Dios, meet with the children and the director and plan out the week’s work
6:00 pm – Dinner at the children’s home and interact with the children
7:30 pm – return to the hotel, reflection, and then relax and prepare for the work project.
Wednesday, May 29th – Saturday, June 1st
6:30 am – breakfast at the hotel
7:30 am – arrive at el Hogar and begin work
11:45 am – Lunch at the children’s home with the children
6:00 pm – Dinner at the children’s home followed by interaction with the children
7:30 pm – return to the hotel, reflection, and then relax and prepare for the work project.
Sunday, June 2nd
Rest day. Group visit to craft market and souvenir shops in Bonao. Possible local tourism.
Monday, June 3rd
6:30 am – breakfast at the hotel
7:30 am – arrive at el Hogar and complete work projects
11:45 am – Lunch at the children’s home with the children
6:00 pm – Dinner at the children’s home followed by interaction with the children
7:30 pm – return to the hotel, reflection, and then relax. On June 4th, final reflection
Tuesday June 4th
6:30 am – breakfast at the hotel
7:30 am – arrive at el Hogar and complete work projects & farewell event with children
11:45 am – Lunch at the children’s home with the children
3:30 pm – return to the hotel and pack
4:30 pm –Farewell activities, dinner, final reflection, and gift exchange.
Wednesday June 5th NOTE: TRAVEL PLANS ARE TENTATIVE
7:30 am – breakfast at the hotel
8:30 am Private bus to Santo Domingo airport (arrive c. 9:30 am)
12:04 pm Santo Domingo airport, United flight 1473 to Newark
4:10 pm arrive Newark (EWR) Parents meet students and take them home, or drivers take them to Madison
